Do I need to see an ophthalmologist even if I have seen an optometrist already to check for eye disease?

The Optometrist is able to both fully evaluate a person’s vision status and to check for signs of eye disease using both their university trained skills and the latest diagnostic equipment. In the event of signs of an eye disease being detected the optometrist will immediately refer the patient to an ophthalmologist for medical treatment.
